All proceeds from the event will benefit Dallas Black Dance Theatre’s Academy by providing a 40% reduction in tuition fees for students at DBDT’s historic facility and free in-school outreach programs for more than 3,000 K-12 students across the DFW Metroplex.
Additionally, all 150,000 Dallas ISD students have access to DBDT’s virtual student matinees which allows each child to experience dance performance without leaving their classroom.

Where will childcare take place?
Childcare will be provided at the JW Marriott Dallas Arts District (800 N. Harwood St), conveniently located near Meyerson Symphony Hall, where the BIG Dance will take place.

Who is providing the childcare?
Mom’s Best Friend, a fully licensed and insured professional nanny and childcare agency with over 25 years of experience, will be providing the childcare services for this event. They specialize in providing high-quality childcare at events and have served the Dallas/Fort Worth area since 1994.

What will be provided for my child?
A full dinner meal, two snacks, toys and activities, and rest areas. There will be pack ‘n plays available for young children.
Can I bring food/snacks for my child to eat throughout the evening?
Due to any potential food allergies of other children, all food will be provided by the venue. Once you book childcare, you will be contact by the nanny service and asked to fill out a detailed form including dietary needs or restrictions.
How much does it cost?
The cost is $50 per child.
What is the caregiver to child ratio?
1:3 for ages 2-4
1:5 for ages 5-12
When can I drop off and pick up my child/children?
The earliest drop off time is 6:30 PM and all children must be picked up by 12:15 am.
How are the caregivers screened and trained?
All Mom’s Best Friend caregivers go through a rigorous 11-step screening process including 5 different background checks, in-person interviews, reference checks, CPR/First Aid certification for infants and children, and in-house caregiver training.
How do I sign up?

What if I want to spend the night at the Marriott Dallas Arts District Hotel?
BIG Dance Attendees are eligible to receive a reduced room rate of $339.00 per night for reservations made by May 27, 2024.

What is the BIG Dance?
The BIG Dance is a vibrant celebration of dance, music, and culture commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Dallas Black Dance Academy (DBDA). It’s a city-wide dance party for all ages (21 and over) featuring live music, an outdoor cigar bar, funky decor, and “Motown Sleek” attire.
Do I need to choose seats inside the Symphony Hall?
No, the BIG Dance does not have a seated performance inside the Symphony Hall. It will be held in the lobby of the Meyerson Symphony Center as a social dance event where attendees are encouraged to be the stars of the event and dance the night away.
Will there be live music?
Yes, the evening will feature live music by Jordan Kahn’s “Manhattan Orchestra” performing hits of Motown.
What is included with the gold level tickets?
In addition to event admission, gold ticket buyers receive complimentary beer/wine/signature cocktails, complimentary food stations & desserts, and complimentary self-parking.
What is included with the platinum level tickets?
Platinum tickets include an invitation to the VIP cocktail reception and dinner which begins at 6:30 PM, complimentary valet parking, reserved dance floor seating, cigar bar access with 1 complimentary cigar, complimentary beer/wine/signature cocktails during the party, complimentary food stations & desserts
Will there be seating?
There will be reserved seating on the dance floor for Platinum ticket holders. There will also be other seating options throughout the venue for gold level ticket holders.
Is parking included?
Complimentary valet parking is included for Platinum ticket holders. Gold Duo ticket holders receive complimentary self-parking.
What should I wear?
Dress for the occasion! We encourage all attendees to dress for the occasion! Wear your best “Motown Sleek” attire to match the vibe of the dance party. Click here for inspiration.
