The 29th Annual International Conference and Festival of Blacks in Dance is expected to bring more than 800 participants from around the world to Dallas, Texas, January 25-29, 2017. The four-day event features three evenings of showcase performances, daily master classes, panels, and workshops.
Dallas Black Dance Theatre fulfills its commitment to dance education at the national and international level by hosting the conference and festival as a part of its 40th annual season.
This event has become an epicenter for all individuals who are interested in the rich history, contributions, and advancement of black dance performance and artistry.

SESSIONS FOR ARTISTS AND ADMINISTRATORS
Join dance professionals for this exciting event that is designed to meet the needs of professional-level, advanced, and student dancers as well as dance administrators and instructors. The conference will be filled with master classes, lecture/demonstrations, panels, and workshops suitable for agents, artistic directors, artists, choreographers, company managers, executive directors, historians, presenters, scholars, and teachers. Workshop and panel sessions will provide experiential hands-on learning paired with examples of successful new models that will inspire new thinking for a vibrant future celebrating dance from African origins.
A multi-company audition will be held for professional dance companies in modern contemporary dance and, for the second consecutive year, ballet auditions for women of color who are seeking contracts and professional training opportunities with premier ballet companies. Scholarship auditions for summer programs and college/university dance programs for professional dance companies, are also scheduled.
