The 40th season for Dallas Black Dance Theatre has been announced. It includes three world premieres, one of which was a recipient of a 2016 TACA Donna Wilhelm Family New Works Fund grant. That work, Tribute by Matthew Rushing, will pay homage to 100 years of black dance masters. It appears in the Director’s Choice program Nov. 4-6. Before that is the annual DanceAfrica, Oct. 7-8. In the spring comes the Cultural Awareness Series (Feb. 17-19) and Spring Celebration (May 19-21). There are also programs from DBDT: Encore (the new name for DBDT II) and other events. The company will also travel to festivals in Belize and Chile in the coming season.
