MEET THE INSTRUCTORS


T. AYO ALSTON
Founder & Executive Director of Ayodele Drum and Dance

Ayo has taught, choreographed, and performed internationally, as an independent artist and as a member of other companies and organizations, such as Dance Africa, Drum Cafe West, Le Bagatae Company of Guinea, Les Ballets Africans, and Muntu Dance Theatre.

JANINE N. BECKLES
Former Lead Dancer, Associate Artistic Director & Company Graham Teacher of Philadanco

Janine is an adjunct professor at Rowan University, lecturer at Rutgers University, Horton teacher for Ailey Extension and former member of Dallas Black Dance Theatre.

ASAKO FANDRICH
ABT-Certified Ballet Instructor

Asako is a certified teacher for the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum (ABTNTC). Previously a company member with Stadttheater Giessen and Ballett Oper Leipzig in Germany, she has taught professional classes at Dallas Ballet Center, Hathaway Academy of Ballet, Contemporary Ballet of Dallas and Dallas Black Dance Theatre.

RICHARD A. FREEMAN, JR.
Artistic Director of Dallas Black Dance Theatre

Richard has danced professionally with Elisa Monte Dance, Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Arts Unlimited, and Houston Grand Opera, performed in productions of Casa Blanca, Brothers of the Knight, Dreams, Porgy and Bess, The WIZ and Rusalka, and choreographed works for the Atlanta Dance Connection, Texas Ballet Theater School and more.

NEO LYNCH
Award-Winning Choreographer & Dancer

Neo has worked with renowned recording artists including Beyoncé, Ciara, and Justin Timberlake, toured nationally and internationally, and performed on major platforms such as Good Morning America, the BET Awards, the MTV Video Music Awards, BET’s Hip-Hop Awards, and MTV Japan. She also served as a hip-hop coach on the MTV series Made and has trained celebrities for music videos and live stage performances.

CHRISTEN REYES
Artistic Director of DBDT: Encore!

A certified Horton Technique teacher, Christen has previously served as a dancer and Artistic Assistant with DBDT: Encore!. She was also a principal dancer with the Dallas Opera, and experienced national and international tours with DBDT: Encore! before founding the dance program at I.M. Terrell Academy for STEM & VPA in 2018 and Fort Worth Dance Festival, a fundraising effort for the Terrell Dance Department.
