Students that show exceptional performance and technical skill are encouraged to audition for the Academy’s Performing Ensembles. There are three ensembles that students can audition to join. All ensemble members are required to participate in the Pre-Professional Division of the Academy and the Academy’s annual recital. Performing ensemble members perform locally at festivals and various events in the Dallas area. Some ensembles have traveled to perform in Los Angeles, Miami, Washington DC, Denver, and even Uganda, Africa. Students who further progress through the professional level, will have the opportunity to audition for DBDT: Encore!, and later audition for the main company, Dallas Black Dance Theatre.
