DBDT: ENCORE! DANCER | DALLAS, TX
Tori Carter (Dallas, Texas) began her dance training at Dallas Black Dance Academy and the Ozsoy’s School of Ballet. In 2019, she graduated from Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy as the Valedictorian of her class. In 2023, she graduated from Howard University’s Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Arts and a minor in Afro-American Studies. Throughout her matriculation at Howard, she performed works by Ronald K. Brown, Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson, Tommie Waheed-Evans, Andile Ndlovu, and more. In Spring 2022, she was selected for the Liz Cherry Jones Memorial Commission from Company | E, which led to the premiere of her first professional choreographic work, “Forces,” performed by the company at the Richmond Dance Festival. She also has the privilege of teaching at the Dallas Black Dance Academy, where she found her love of dance as a child. This is Tori’s second season with DBDT: Encore!
